I started as Foundation Manager in February 2021, looking after every aspect of the day-to-day running of the Foundation. I started my career within the Football industry way back in 1995, just down the M60 at Stockport County FC for 19 years, 15 of them as Community Officer at Edgeley Park.
Following my time at County, I became the first-ever Community Development Officer at neighbours Stalybridge Celtic Foundation, delivering new football-based activities and giving the club a presence in the community
It’s my job to take Curzon Ashton Football Club out of The Tameside Stadium and into the Community, using the ‘Power of Football’ to engage with all aspects of our community and raise the profile of the club in and around not only, Ashton-under-Lyne, but Tameside in general.
As a Team, Myself, and the Trustees of the Foundation are tasked with building on the superb Foundations left by Andy Cheshire, the Foundations previous Manager and delivering a wide range of community focused projects/activities and initiatives to truly stand out as a major Community Development provider in Ashton-under-Lyne.
I’m passionate about football and in particular a team from across the Tyne from my hometown of Gateshead, that play in Black and White!
As the saying goes – ‘A football club is more than four stands and a pitch’.
